June 8, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Sankofa Community Farm at Bartram’s Garden

Philadelphia, PA 19143

An overview of the crops from the African Diaspora that can grow well in Philadelphia and the spiritual, cultural, and personal processes involved in choosing them. We will also share helpful tips and information on best practices in growing the crops that are meaningful to us from our ancestral connections to them.

You may participate online or in-person at Sankofa Community Farm.

Workshop leader: Chris Bolden-Newsome

Priority for workshop enrollment is given to neighbors living in Mill Creek, Haddington, & Southwest Philadelphia. Workshop registration is limited to 10-15. Light refreshments will be served. Children & youth are welcome, but childcare is not provided. Masks & social-distancing are requested for in-person workshops.

This workshop is presented in partnership with the Southwest and West Area Growers Network thanks to support from the USDA Community Food Project.
