Don’t miss the BEE-BEARD Man!

August 18, 2016

A highlight of HoneyFest each year is the arrival of the Bee-Beard Man, who delights and amazes us with a full beard of live honeybees. The brave fellow is Don Shump of the Philadelphia Bee Co., which specializes in producing regional and seasonal varietal honeys. All of its raw, unfiltered honey is produced from apiaries within Philadelphia city limits.

At HoneyFest, Don lets hundreds of bees swarm around his neck, where a tiny container holds a Queen bee. Her faithful minions follow their queen and that’s how a “bee beard” gets formed. We’ll have more on Don and his amazing beard in the coming weeks, but don’t miss it live and in person on September 11. It’s incredible.
