Learn From Orchard Superstar Dr. Lee Reich

February 11, 2015

We’re excited to be hosting a fabulous Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop on March 14 in partnership with our friends from the Philadelphia Orchard Project (POP). The special guest presenter for this workshop is Dr. Lee Reich, author of Grow Fruit Naturally, Landscaping with Fruit, and The Pruning Book, who has worked for both the USDA and Cornell University as a soil science researcher.

You’ll be green with envy after touring his impressive “farmden” in New Paltz, NY! “More than a garden and less than a farm,” his farmden is a test site for innovative techniques in soil care, pruning, and growing fruits and vegetables, and has been featured in The New York Times and Martha Stewart Magazine.

Lee will explain the theory and demonstrate techniques for whip and bridge grafts. All attendees will graft their own pear or Asian pear tree to bring home or donate to the Philadelphia Orchard Project to plant in a community orchard in the city. Space is limited for this hands-on workshop; advance registration required. A workshop discount available for Bartram’s Garden and POP members.

Join us and learn from Lee when he’s in Philly next month! Register online: http://leereichphilly.bpt.me/
