What can archaeology tell us about the history of botany and gardening? Join graduate student and archaeologist Ally Mitchem and curator Joel Fry for a tour of Bartram’s Garden where we explore this question. On this tour, Ally will discuss some of the archaeology that has been carried out at the garden, and what those investigations revealed about the garden as a natural, technological, and scientific space in the 18th and 19th centuries. This tour is for lovers of horticulture, nature, travel, and archaeology and anyone who wants to spend a morning outdoors at this historic garden!
Meet at the Welcome Center. Please note: the tour will take place outdoors. Proper clothing and hydration are advised.
[This tour will be a repeat of the archaeological tour given on August 13th, this past summer.]
