Mini golf (and a gator!) comes to Bartram’s Garden

October 14, 2016

This week, an alligator returned to Bartram’s Garden!

“A fine, fat, frisky Alegator is now running at large at Bartram’s Botanic Garden, near Gray’s Ferry, on the Schuylkill. He is tied by a long rope to a stake, and displays a beautiful set of teeth.”
– William Bartram, 1774

Just in time for HarvestFest, The Links will be a nine-hole miniature-golf course integrating community participation, sculpture, and history through play. By commissioning artists to interpret the garden’s history and unique ecology, The Links is designed as a family friendly recreational destination to tell the Bartram story through playful and meaningful artistic engagement. Check out these photos of staff bringing the first of the holes, constructed by artist Mark Dion, into the coach house, and come see the whole project at HarvestFest 2016!
