Open Gallery: Three of a Kind Part 2: Abstractions | artwork by DuiJi Mshinda, Kara Mshinda, and Dahra Mshinda

June 18, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Stop by the Barn during the Garden’s Juneteenth Celebration for a viewing of Three of a Kind Part 2: Abstractions.

Three of a Kind Part 2: Abstractions is an exhibition that highlights the creative practices and artworks of family members DuiJi, Kara, and Dahra Mshinda. In this second family exhibition, the Mshindas share a collection of abstract artworks produced between 2015 and 2023. This body of artwork, which ranges from digital photo collages to paintings and mixed-media works,  celebrates the unnamable, kinetic, and emotive immediacy of creative imagination.

By focusing on abstraction rather than representational or figurative subject matter, the Mshindas aim to amplify abstraction as a radical art form of liberation. The exhibition’s closing reception is on June 29 from 5-8pm and will feature DJ Papo from the Vinyl Tap 215 collective and an open mic portion of the program.
